The sample provided for my tasting was the Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon. The others are Booker’s, Baker’s and Basil Hayden (which a longer aged Old Grand-Dad) and I’ll getting tackling them soon enough.Knob Creek takes it’s name from Abraham Lincoln’s boyhood home in Kentucky and is quite a good bourbon. Others in the same collection which you will probably be just as familiar with are Booker’s, Basil Hayden, and Baker’s. It’s flavorful, accessible, and as an added bonus – 120 proof. Knob Creek Straight Bourbon is adored for its spicy, vanilla, burnt caramel and oak flavor notes. If you prefer one over the other, it is due to time in the oak barrel (Knob Creek is aged longer) and location in the rick house. The extra aging draws more flavor and sugar from the wood, providing a full-bodied, fruity flavor with hints of grass and grain.
