But again, I will say, anyone who is successful works more than a regular work day for some time in their life. In some areas like Houston, it sounds like it's even easier to get one, but generally speaking most places, a good candidate will find a job in time. If you understood beginning accounting, then intermediate accounting just builds on the same principles you already learned.

IT will probably be somewhere in the 50k range once you get an accounting degree. The past three years has been a long road and it's taught me so much. It's sad to say that but it's true. Combine this with the cumulative nature of accounting you get a situation where things may not naturally come to you and when they don't you very quickly get behind and now have to work 2 or 3 times harder to get caught up. I have friends that got straight C's in university and got jobs through their family and friends. Most people think money in money out but don't naturally think about depreciation, accruals, ect. The hard part is learning what to add or multiply, why, and how to interpret the results. Finding an accounting job for a new grad is all about networking and luck. Accounting is not intuitive for most.

Many of these people in related fields in my opinion are not too bright and are taking advantage of other peoples wealth. Accounting on the job is hard (speaking from the client services side, don't know about being in-house) because you have to figure out from a bunch of numbers/incomplete data what is going on with the company and explain it to people inside or outside of the firm more coherently than some of the executives that have been there for years. See ways you can make it a little less hard--and stand a chance of being in the 50% who pass the CPA Exam each year.
It is hard to get a respectable position in a place where you feel needed and loved.
