The rustoleum was not drying ( oil evaporation is slow as the humidity has been 90%) even after a week? Same thing for the 4'x8' ply sheet I put in the back of the E-350 Super Duty van - stinky poo after 5 months !!! Valspar also seems a lot more durable than Rustoleum. Oil-based paint may feel dry two to four hours after it's applied.

Shortening the story: I’ve used the tractor paint before, and I have used Rustoleum to paint my old truck. Tough as a boot, but it sure does stink. 'dunno 'bout the cure time on models at room temperature, but I painted the floor of my new 7'x16' trailer with Rustoleum oil based paint last October, and it _still_ stinks to beat the band. Water Based/Latex Paint ~ Dry Time 1-2 hours – Cure Time 21-30 days. The outer surface is what dries first, the middle of the paint next and the paint that actually touches the surface last. Homemade Chalky Paint ~ Dry Time 30-60 minutes – Cure Time 21-30 days. Oil Based Paint ~ Dry Time 6-8 hours – Cure Time 3-7 days.
Took a leap and mixed the hardener with my hand mixed color and I was successful. Because of this, you have much more time to manipulate oil paint on your canvas before it dries.
